Wrap It Up, Please - Agnese Forlani

Wrap It Up, Please, is a piece generated from Forlani's research on plastic for her MA in Dance at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.
The process was based on collecting and sewing together pieces of plastic while collaging the stories that those artefacts and artworks narrated. By crafting costume and scenography, Wrap it Up Please eventually found its way to the the black box, where these stories could be told. Plastic, after all, spoke of power and control, nostalgia and despair and the desire to manipulate, perfect and dominate
material reality.  In an opaque landscape made entirely of plastic, inspired by the summer beaches of Rimini and many other worlds, a character makes their way carrying personal and collective experiences, in an ambiguous limbo between wealth and catastrophe.  First shown at Desingel during RadiantNights #12 (2024), reworked for the Outsidein festival at Theater Arsenaal Mechelen (2025).
